SUMMARY:Ramin Arjomand Solo
DESCRIPTION:Iranian-American composer-pianist Ramin Arjomand presents an evening-length solo performance. \nArjomand’s work is born of a complex interplay of cross-cultural creative impulses. His long-form improvisations attain extremes of sound intensity\, pushing limits of spontaneous thinking while seeking simultaneously\, and equally intensely\, a compositional unity characteristic of fully-notated music. Their sound structure draws as much on a nineteenth-century European approach to piano resonance as on the unfettered sensibility of American avant-garde jazz. Beneath the surface lies a musical ethos that quietly echoes the Iranian dastgāh tradition.

SUMMARY:Chao Plays Chopin Piano Solo Works
DESCRIPTION:Chao He presents an evening illuminating the full emotional spectrum of Chopin through a program of nocturnal lyricism\, magnanimous polonaise grandeur\, storm-driven scherzo intensity\, and sweeping balladic drama. The program also features two special guests: Qinyu Xiong brings crystalline agility to Devienne’s Flute Concerto No. 7 in e minor: I. Allegro\, while Wenxuan Yu energizes the stage with Yonezu Kenshi’s Haiirotoao and Kurousa-P’s Senbonzakura\, completing a richly textured musical evening.

SUMMARY:How to Become an Idea: Christopher Otto plays Samuel Clay Birmaher
DESCRIPTION:This concert presents the world premieres of two works for solo violin by Samuel Clay Birmaher that attempt to recall the experience of existence before life. Both pieces were written for Christopher Otto—a founding member of the JACK Quartet—and this performance will be his first public solo concert. \nThe sparseness of the music magnifies every natural variation in the violin’s sound\, allowing the entirety of Otto’s technique to come into focus. Its sound guides and lulls the listener into an altered state\, attempting to rewind awareness into a state of pre-existence in order to experience something that can’t be experienced.

SUMMARY:Ramin Arjomand Solo
DESCRIPTION:Iranian-American pianist-composer Ramin Arjomand’s work is born of a complex interplay of cross-cultural creative impulses. His long-form improvisations reach extremes of sound intensity\, pushing limits of spontaneous thinking while seeking simultaneously\, and equally intensely\, a compositional unity characteristic of fully-notated music. Their sound structure draws as much on a nineteenth-century European approach to piano resonance as on the unfettered sensibility of American avant-garde jazz. Beneath the surface lies a musical ethos that quietly echoes the Iranian dastgāh tradition.

SUMMARY:Evolving Threads
DESCRIPTION:Music is a story\, and every note is a clue. Mozart opens—clean\, sharp\, every note landing like it’s meant to be there\, no wasted motion. Then Mahler rolls in\, dark and stormy\, his Piano Quartet in A minor pulling you into a world he didn’t even finish. It’s raw\, unresolved\, like a conversation cut short. \nBrahms follows with the Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor\, Op. 60. Its Andante movement is tender and introspective\, offering a glimpse of warmth and longing amidst the stormy undercurrents of the work. And then there’s Debussy\, whose Violin Sonata shimmers with impressionistic colors\, weaving elegance and mystery into every phrase. \nFinally\, Caroline Shaw opens with Thousandth Orange\, bridging the past and the present with music that feels alive—vivid\, layered\, and brimming with curiosity.
