“a striking demonstration of how music…can give voice to darkness and tragedy, to stasis and torment, to fragility and desolation…Characterized by a complex musical idiom that demands immense physical and psychological endurance from its performers…[Hersch’s] music erupts in moments of trauma and expressive collapse” – Percorsi Musicali
Released on KAIROS Recordings in 2026, Michael Hersch’s newest album “across … in grief and detail” features music written for some of the composer’s closest collaborators: soprano Ah Young Hong and the Wolftone Duo (bassoonist Ben Roidl-Ward and violinist William Overcash). Presented alongside Hersch’s work on the program is music of Hildegard of Bingen and György Kurtág.
Admission is free.
