Love Fragments is an evening-long song cycle for soprano and violin on a collection of modern Persian love poems.
Love Fragments («پراکنده ها از عشق») consists of a cycle of 10 pieces based on ten love poems by writers who made significant contributions to the transformation of Farsi lyric poetry into its diverse modern forms. The selected poets—Ahmad Shāmlū, Sohrāb Sepehri, Rezā Barāheni, Bijan Jalāli, Mohammad Mokhtāri, Forūgh Farrokhzad, Yadollāh Royaee, and Nimā Yushij—each took a deeply individual approach to modern lyricism, yet shared a common thread: they explored the possibility of writing love poetry through new linguistic horizons, often bypassing periods of political censorship and repression.
