Ekmeles vocal ensemble performs works by American composers, including a newly revised work by Andrew Waggoner, as well as works by Erin Gee, Taylor Brook, and Ekmeles director Jeffrey Gavett. These compositions explore a broad range of vocal expression, from the pops clicks and whistles of Erin Gee’s “Three Scenes from SLEEP”, to the rich sustained harmonies of Andrew Waggoner’s “That Human Dream”. Taylor Brook explores links to the past and nostalgia through use of music by Buxtehude and Hank Williams, as well as an array of tuning systems and styles, while Jeffrey Gavett’s work focuses on a single work by Michael Praetorius
