New York’s most adventurous saxophone quartet returns for its 2nd annual program exploring new music for saxophones, pushing the ensemble beyond its traditional boundaries. Explorations Vol. 2 features hyper-modern works by 4 next-generation voices: Karst* by Max Grafe charts the dramatic and musical implications of an initial explosive event. Taylor Brook’s Flux Candrix* toys with musical quotation and stylistic allusion. Adam Mirza brings a mish-mash of saxophone licks, gestures and grunts to In the House of the Living and the Dead,* and Chris Fisher-Lochhead showcases the versatility and power of the modern saxophone in “Blissing Out.” Tickets: $10. *World Premiere.
