In the Presence of Absence

This concert consists of three newly composed solo works: “How quiet – at the bottom of the lake, peaks of clouds” for solo violin, performed by Marina Kifferstein; “Zinnia” for solo percussion, performed by Ellery Trafford; and “Stillness – seeping” for solo electric guitar, performed by Alec Goldfarb.

These three works are interconnected by three fixed-media electronic pieces that weave together the haunting recitations of poems by the renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. His words, resonating with themes of loss, longing, and hope, form the emotional backbone of the evening, grounding each musical piece in a shared reflection on grief and mourning.
