Featuring a unique audio-visual experience, award-winning composer and internationally performed artist Kyle Simpson D.M.A. and his chamber orchestra will perform live at Cary Hall. The concert will feature a live performance and screening of George Méliès’ two most famous French silent films A Trip to The Moon (1902) and The Kingdom of Fairies (1903). Time travel-like feel, brought on by ornate costumes, stage sets, and Méliès’ signature optical tricks, is crafted together with Simpson’s eclectic compositional style that fuses musical influences of Debussy, Stravinsky, and Steve Reich with the cinematic sounds of John Williams and Alexandre Desplat.
