The PRISM Quartet joins forces with Miguel Zenón and Susie Ibarra in a wide-ranging program for saxophones and percussion. Zenón and PRISM perform works by Chris Potter, Matthew Levy, and Zenón himself from the Quartet’s Heritage/Evolution project. H/E draws on the saxophone’s cross-cultural heritage to blend jazz with everything from Western and South Indian classical music to Romani and Latin American folkloric music. Ibarra joins PRISM in her stunning 2018 work, “Procession, along the Aciga Tree,” inspired by processional music from the forests of the northern Philippines. The program includes music by Schumann, Bach, Scarlatti, Sondheim, Roshanne Etezady, and Michael Daugherty.
