Jonathon Crompton's genre-defying new work for two sopranos, string quartet, alto saxophone, and electric guitar receives its world premiere. Cantata No. 1: An Island Seen and Felt marks a distinct evolution of Crompton's compositional practice, which is rooted in both classical and jazz traditions and heavily influenced by his intensive study of Renaissance counterpoint.

The North/South Chamber Orchestra under the baton of its founder Max Lifchitz performs a free-admission concert featuring recent works by New York based composers Victor Kioulaphides, Max Lifchitz, Robert Martin and Rufus Reid. Soloists will include flutist Lisa Hansen, bassist Stephen Sas and percussionist Frank Cassara.

Pianists Shijun Wang and Chih-Long Hu, both devoted educators and virtuosic performers, bring an evening of classics from the golden age of the piano, including works by Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Johann Strauss and Rachmaninoff.
